In 2012 Andreas Steiner and Andreas Mueller founded the company astria. The goal of the company was to function as a bridge to the Asian markets thereby European companies could benefit from Asian purchase prices under European conditions and standards.
As a result of our rolling supplier audits that are performed on site and due to our continuous identification of new manufacturing partners we can guarantee our customers that we work exclusively with suppliers that manufacture according to European standards.

Andreas Steiner worked during and after his studies in the field of production, logistics and process management in an international setting at the Graz based company XAL GmbH. After successfully graduating from his studies, he was promoted to the position of general manager at their US-American manufacturing plant located in Connecticut. Following his employment in the USA, he was responsible for the integration of a manufacturing location in mainland China and a trading company in Hong Kong within the XAL group of companies. Lastly, he worked at both locations as “Director of the Board”.
Andreas Mueller studied at the University of Applied Sciences JOANNEUM, where he completed a dual degree in production technique and organization. Afterwards he worked for several years as Key Account Manager in the area of electronic manufacturing services (EMS) for the company SEIDEL Elektronik. Furthermore, he gained experience with international business processes while working as an area sales manager for Africa and the Middle East. He was responsible for the marketing of the Graz based measurement technology company Anton Paar GmbH.
Christian Wiessner was engaged during a dual study program in production technology and organization at the company Kendrion Electromagnetic. He was responsible for production relocation projects to Asia. Following that Christian Wiessner worked for the Styrian company Logicdata in Product Engineering. There he was responsible for the technical support of suppliers from Asia in regards to electronic and mechanical components and products. By establishing and leading the team in China he gained further valuable experience in intercultural management.
Markus Pibal worked for 14 years for a Lighting Manufacturer called XAL GmbH located in Graz. During his career at XAL GmbH, he spent 9 years working in the USA where he was responsible in setting up and establishing a sales company in Manhattan as well as a production facility in Connecticut. He was responsible as production manager in the Connecticut facility. A key point of his work involved working with the UL and cUL certification of products for the American and Canadian market. After his time in the USA, he was responsible for the implementation of an ERP system and the optimization of production processes at XAL subsidiary companies located in China and Hong Kong. As deputy project manager, he also implemented a global ERP system within the XAL group of companies.
After studying engineering (University of Technology in Graz) Georg Scharrer worked 15 years in R&D in various industries (automotive, pharmaceutical and special electro-mechanical engineering) in functions such as Department Head, Head of Site and R&D Coordination for several companies. During his work Georg Scharrer published about 40 publications and technical papers as author and co-author. Utilizing this knowledge Georg Scharrer develops astria further as Head of Business Development and additionally heads the astria academy with his skills as executive coach.
Markus Plaschg worked during his studies in the field of business administration and then following his studies as an assistant to the management. He was able to gain extensive experience in customer management. In addition, he acquired knowledge and expertise in the areas of administration and organization. Since 2018 he supports the company astria in the internal sales department.
Tony Yang completed his academic education at the Jiangxi Normal University in China. Afterwards Tony Yang started his career in the lighting industry. In total Tony Yang has more than 18 years of experience in the lighting industry. He worked for Chinese as well as for European company owners. During his career he was responsible for International Sales, Research& Development, Quality Management as well as Supply Chain Management. Since 2014 Tony Yang is supporting astria as Director of Astria China.
Markus Staudacher completed his engineering education at the Federal Higher Technical Institute for Electrical Engineering located in Klagenfurt, Austria. After graduation he worked for international operating companies where he could strengthen his technical and intercultural skills. In 2005 Markus Staudacher was send as an Expatriate to Indonesia by an Austrian company. Located in Indonesia he was responsible for the entire supply chain management. Since 2015 he is supporting astria as Director of Astria Indonesia.
